Final Essay

South Central today is really cool. Although sometimes there is violence going on it is still a good place to live in. The things that are good about SC are that you meet many people, there is many fun stuff to do , and the schools. You get to meet many people, well that is if you are social. You can got out with your friends to the park, eat, or just simply kick back some were. The schools in SC are really good. They might not be the cleanest schools but you learn a lot from them. The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central, LA what it is today are the LA Riots, Crack Epidemic, and Gang History. 

The first event that has made Sc what it is today is the LA Rots. The LA Riots started because the officers that beat Rodney King were found not guilty. It also started because the woman that shot Latasha Harlins was not put in jail but only was finned. During the LA riots a lot of crazy stuff happened. At the end of the LA Riots there were 53 people dead and over $1 billion in damages.This event is important in making South Central, LA what it is today because the LA riots helped people get noticed for speaking out against oppression and only trough the riots were that these people were heard.

The second event that has made South Central, LA what it is today is the Crack Epidemic. The Crack Epidemic was really harsh on South Central, LA. it first started because the U.S government needed money to provide Nicaragua with weapons to fight against the communist. So they decide to bring in cocaine into the U.S but specially the ghettos. As more and more people started to take cocaine the crime rate grew higher. It got many families to fight and get separated. The main person who was behind this was Freeway Ricky Ross. He was the one that the government provided cocaine to sell. Then the U.s government decided to stop the Spread of cocaine. So they started to arrest people. This lead to a high incarceration rate. This event was important because if cocaine had been never introduced to South Central, LA then SC would be a calm and peaceful place.

The last event that has made South Central, LA what it is today is Gang History. The first gangs were formed to protect the community against the spook hunters.The spook hunters were a large white gang that targeted blacks and latinos. During the Civil Rights Movement the gangs were completely lost. The gang members joined the Black Panthers and the Brown Berets. The Black Panthers and the Brown Berets were a community group that wanted to act as the community’s army. The government then formed the COINTELPRO organization. COINTELPRO stands for the COunter INTELigence PROgram. These program destroyed the Black Panthers and the Brown Berets. After theses organizations were broken apart Tookie Williams and Raymond Washington formed the Crips. Then the 18th street gang was formed. This event was important because if it wouldnt have happened then the most known gangs wouldn’t have been formed and there wouldn’t be any violence.

In conclusion the three events that have made South Central, LA what it is today are the LA Riots, Crack Epidemic, and Gang History. They made SC what it is today because the LA riots helped the people get noticed for oppression. The Crack Epidemic tore apart the community and made many people get addicted to cocaine. It also affected the incarceration rate very much. The Gang History affected SC because it made the most dangerous gangs in SC and because of gangs there is a lot of violence. I think that in the future SC will continue to be as it is today. But hey you never know, it might change for the better.

There are many things that make living in SC unique. Some things that make Living in SC unique are that you meet many new people, there is a lot of fun stuff to do. Living in SC is really cool, you have many friends to kick it with and to have fun with. In SC there are many small businesses were you can buy stuff you might need. SC is not all about gangs and violence. You can also have fun without violence like for example you can go to the park or swimming at the public pools. The thing that makes living in SC unique is the people living in the community. They make it unique because they are fun and friendly. It is also unique because in my community there is no violence and the houses are really pretty.

The things that i have achieved are to get my grades up. This has been a good year because i have met many new people. Also because my grades have been really good and i have tried my best in everything. I think that the point of view of my parents would be the same because of my grades. My teachers point of view would almost be the same except for when i behaved bad in class.
